On December 11, 2020 the IEEE Spectrum published "Infrared Fever Detectors Used for COVID-19 Aren’t As Accurate As You Think" by Erik Beall, Ph.D.  The article details the current accuracy issues of non-contact temperature screening systems, simple methods to test for accuracy, and capacities for providing a high degree of accuracy required for elevated body temperatures.
